No horizon. The vision is blurry. Just a thick, dense, white wall. Particles continuously move through the air, refusing to settle into contours. Slightly it breaths and vanishes in the atmosphere. Briefly allowing glances beyond. Quietly a body emerges in the gaze. As the haze lifts the vision gradually takes shape like a Polaroid picture.. But the clear view is fleeting in the blinding light.

The solo “Haze” is the sixth part of the series “A human study – a choreographical journal”. The series is pursued since 2006 and explores time-spatial configurations in relation to interpersonal unfolding. At the same time “Haze” functions as a study for the next full evening piece “2067: Archaeologies of a near future”, which will be developed in 2012.

Mit ihrer neuen Arbeit für eine Tänzerin und vier Tänzer setzt Alexandra Waierstall ihre künstlerische Recherche zu Entstehung und Wahrnehmung von Grenzen fort. In „Den Wind vermessen“, wie sich der Titel annähernd übersetzen lässt, steht die Kraft des Windes für einen Raum, in dem Bewegung eine klare Orientierung und Zielrichtung verliert. Ausgangspunkt bilden Windkarten, die die Bewegungen der Luftmassen jenseits von territorialen Grenzen abbilden und das System von Längen- und Breitengraden, die physisch nicht erfahrbar sind, sondern eine zeitliche und räumliche Orientierung vermitteln. In Zusammenarbeit mit der visuellen Künstlerin Marianna Christofides entwickelt die in Düsseldorf lebende Choreografin eine Inszenierung, in der sich die Tänzer von der Bewegung der Luft, die sie umgibt, tragen zu lassen scheinen.
Die Arbeiten der in Zypern aufgewachsenen Künstlerin sind von fließenden Bewegungsabläufen und einer poetischen Bildsprache geprägt. Nach einem Tanz- und Choreografiestudium im niederländischen Arnheim ist „Mapping the Wind“ bereits die vierte abendfüllende Arbeit von Alexandra Waierstall. Im Rahmen von MODUL DANCE, einem internationalen Netzwerk zur Förderung junger Choreografen, stellt Alexandra Waierstall u.a. ihre Arbeit in Dublin und Athen vor.

Locus Solus
(Locus Solus)

Locus Solus is performance based installation project based on Raymond Roussel’s novel Locus Solus (Solitary or Unique Place, 1914), in which a scientist fits out his luxurious laboratories in a villa near Paris, each room demonstrating one of the ingenious inventions of his encyclopaedic mind.

Locus Solus represents the spaces and exhibits of a museum of inventions/cabinet of curiosities. The curatorial approach is based on this format in order to imprint the intersections of the visual and performing arts and architecture. The exhibition presents seven different happenings, staged by Sozita Goudouna, which will be rotated at a daily basis in the spaces of the museum.The architectural installation is designed by architect Konstantinos Alivizatos.

Raymond Roussel’s work focuses on the intersection between art and science and has influenced a number of important writers such as Marcel Duchamp, Michel Foucault, Jean Cocteau and many others. This exhibition aims at re-approaching Locus Solus in relation to its impact on these writers and groups as well as contemporary art.

Following its successful presentation at a number of leading European cultural comes to Athens with the participation of a group of international artists: Mat Collishaw, James P. Locus Solus

Η έκθεση με δρώμενα Locus Solus (Μόνος–μοναχικός ή μοναδικός–Τόπος) είναι εμπνευσμένη από το ομώνυμο μυθιστόρημα του Ρέϊμοντ Ρουσέλ (1914), στο οποίο ένας επιστήμονας εξοπλίζει τα πολυτελή εργαστήρια του σε μια βίλα κοντά στο Παρίσι. Σε κάθε δωμάτιο εκθέτει μία από τις ιδιοφυείς εφευρέσεις του εγκυκλοπαιδικού του πνεύματος. Η έκθεση εστιάζει στην επαναξιολόγηση της σχέσης της Τέχνης και της Αρχιτεκτονικής, κατασκευάζοντας ένα πολύπτυχο χώρο, όπου συνδιαλέγονται με ένα μη γραμμικό τρόπο αρχιτεκτονικές δομές, εικαστικά περιβάλλοντα, δρώμενα, μηχανισμοί, θεατές και περφόρμερ.

Οι χώροι του Locus Solus παραλληλίζονται και αναπαριστούν τους χώρους και τα εκθέματα ενός μουσείου εφευρέσεων (cabinet of curiosities). Η σκηνοθετική επιμέλεια της Σωζήτας Γκουντούνα βασίζεται σ’ αυτή τη δομή για να αποτυπώσει τις διασταυρώσεις των παραστατικών, των εικαστικών τεχνών και της αρχιτεκτονικής.

Τα δρώμενα της έκθεσης θα εναλλάσσονται καθημερινά θα εναλλάσσονται καθημερινά και περιλαμβάνουν τη συμμετοχή των: Institute of Important Items (Chloé Maillet, Louise Hervé), καλλιτεχνική ομάδα Kom.post (Camille Louis, Laurie Bellanca), η μουσικός Δήμητρα Λαζαρίδου -Χατζηγώγα (Ζither),η περφόρμερ Gabriella Daris, οι περφόρμερ Χουλιέτα Κιλγκελμαν και Μελία Κρέϊλινγκ σε συνεργασία με τη σκηνογράφο Χριστίνα Πέννα, οι χορευτές Ευαγγελία Ράντου, Χρήστος Παπαδόπουλος, Νεφέλη Σκαρμέα και πενήντα περφόρμερ σε χορογραφία της Alexandra Waierstall.
